Lux Family Genealogy

From France to Austria to Pennsylvania and beyond....

Anna and Vincent Lux

Recent research has uncovered that Vincent Lux was born in Lochwiller, Bas-Rhin, France, on January 22, 1790 and died December 22, 1844. His father was Jean (John) Lux born in Lochwiller, Bas-Rhine, France, around 1775. Vincent's mother was Anne-Marie Muller. No further information was found on Anne-Marie.

A DNA Sur-Name Project at www.familytreedna.com was initiated to locate earlier ancestors. One of our family members submitted to a DNA test and the results show likely roots to northern France. This would substantiate a tie to Jean (John) Lux.

As a result of the DNA test the National Geographic charts our ancestoral journey roughly beginning 60,000 years ago with the Barants Ice Shelf, through Europe and into Africa during the Ice Age which was really a period characterized by drought rather than ice and continues back into Europe which ultimately ends in Northern France. I will expand more on this in the near future.

Vincent married Anna Dreisbach who was born in Beak, Austria. Their only known child was Aloysius Lux, born on April 11, 1830. He married Caroline Heider, born August 10, 1839.

Aloysius and Caroline had six children: Frank, John, Aloysius, Albert, Herman and Marie. From these children we move forward with our history.

John Herman Lux (1862-1923) the great grandson of Jean (John) Lux and Anna-Marie Muller, emigrated in 1881 at the age of 19. His future bride, Bertha Brosig (1866-1946) emigrated that same year with her family. It is not known if they knew each other while still in Austria but I think there had to be some relation between their families. They were married on May 17, 1888 in Johnstown, PA. one year before the Johnstown Flood. Read more.

More research is still needed to locate further details of our roots. If you have any information concerning our early ancestors or if you would like to add further details please e-mail me.
